Description
VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide) is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide of the secretin/glucagon family. Peptide Partners supplies VIP as a lyophilized powder in 10mg vials for in-vitro and laboratory research into neuropeptide receptor signaling (VPAC1, VPAC2) and related cellular pathways.

Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) in COVID-19 Therapy—Shedding of ACE2 and TMPRSS2 via ADAM10
Authors: Charlotte Gutzler, Kerstin Höhne, Daniele Bani, Gian Kayser, Sebastian Fähndrich, Michael Ambros, Martin J Hug, Siegbert Rieg, Valeria Falcone, Joachim Müller-Quernheim, Gernot Zissel, Björn C Frye

In cultured cells, VIP exposure reduced transcription and surface expression of ACE2 and TMPRSS2 and induced ADAM10-dependent shedding of both proteins; the ADAM10 inhibitor aderbasib blocked this shedding. Cells exposed to VIP also showed lower entry of a SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus in this assay.
Vasoactive intestinal peptide produces long-lasting changes in neural activity in the suprachiasmatic nucleus
Authors: Takashi Kudo, Yu Tahara, Karen L Gamble, Douglas G McMahon, Gene D Block, Christopher S Colwell
Source: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4073931/
Using mouse brain-slice cultures, researchers recorded a sustained increase in suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) neuronal firing after VIP application. The response depended on the VIPR2 receptor, PKA and Epac signaling, the clock protein PER1, and Kv3 potassium channels.
Vasoactive intestinal peptide promotes secretory differentiation and mitigates radiation-induced intestinal injury
Authors: Tatiana Agibalova, Anneke Hempel, H Carlo Maurer, Mohab Ragab, Anastasia Ermolova, Jessica Wieland, Caroline Waldherr Ávila de Melo, Fabian Heindl, Maximilian Giller, Julius Clemens Fischer, Markus Tschurtschenthaler, Birgit Kohnke-Ertel, Rupert Öllinger, Katja Steiger, Ihsan Ekin Demir, Dieter Saur, Michael Quante, Roland M Schmid, Moritz Middelhoff

In intestinal organoid and mouse models, VIP influenced proliferation of Lgr5-EGFP+ progenitor cells and shifted epithelial differentiation toward a secretory phenotype through p38 MAPK signaling, including in a radiation-injury model.
Storage and handling
VIP is supplied for laboratory use. Store unopened vials cold and protected from light, and follow the storage notes on the vial label. Handle only in an appropriate laboratory setting by qualified personnel.
